LANDSCAPE DESIGNER | LANDSCAPE ARCHITECT (FULL-TIME)
RESPONSIBILITIES
Surroundings is looking for an exceptional, experienced Landscape Designer/Architect that possesses strong design skills, can run projects from start to finish effectively and efficiently, understands and can develop strong construction documentation, and has the ability to oversee projects during construction. We are a small, but highly motivated, team creating award winning work across the Southwestern United States and seek self motivated creatives to be a part of our studio.
EXPERIENCE
2-8 years experience (licensure in Landscape Architecture a plus)
SKILL SET
Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop/InDesign/Illustrator)
AutoCAD or VectorWorks (VectorWorks a plus)
SketchUp (Enscape, Rhino, or Lumion a plus)
Strong time-management, client management, team leading, and organizational skills
Strong self-editing skills to improve accuracy of work
Strong work/studio culture ethic
Strong spatial cognition skills
Local knowledge of Southwest (water/plants/climate) a plus
EDUCATION
MLA preferred; BSLA/BLA or Architecture degrees will be considered based on experience and skill set.
STUDIO MANAGER (PART-TIME)
RESPONSIBILITIES
Surroundings Studio is seeking a proactive, organized, and collaborative Studio Manager to support our growing landscape architecture practice. As our team expands, we are looking for someone who brings structure, initiative, and warmth to the workplace. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a creative environment, enjoys supporting designers, and can help ensure the business side of the studio runs smoothly and efficiently. While this is a part-time role to start, there is potential for growth over time.
The Studio Manager works closely with the Owner and Team to provide day-to-day operational, administrative, and marketing support.
– Manage daily office functions: phone messages, mail, shipping, deliveries, and supply ordering
– Oversee equipment maintenance and vendor coordination
– Help maintain firm licensure records and renewals
– Support digital and physical file organization, including template design and workflow guidance
– Maintain books and materials resource libraries
– Assist with onboarding new employees and maintaining employee records, PTO, and timesheets
– Help plan internal client lunch meetings, events, lunch-and-learns, and staff celebrations
– Coordinate travel and meeting logistics for project-related site visits
– Support proposal and RFP preparation
– Maintain resumes, firm profiles, and marketing assets
– Help manage social media presence and contact lists
– Assist with award submissions and presentation materials
EXPERIENCE
3+ years of experience in office administration, studio coordination, or similar roles (design or creative fields preferred)
SKILL SET
– Strong organizational and multitasking skills, with excellent attention to detail
– Proficiency in Google Workspace and Microsoft Office
– Experience with Adobe InDesign is preferred; familiarity with Deltek Ajera is a plus
– Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
– Friendly, reliable, and self-directed
– Comfortable working in a flexible, collaborative, team-oriented studio
